Our In-school cooking sessions work best with groups of up to 16 children at a time and can be delivered as a one-off session or as multi-sessions built into your school programme. Clean Plate provides all cooking equipment and ingredients – all we need from schools is access to a kitchen with fridge, oven/stove and running water, and a suitable space for the cooking to take place (e.g., school hall).
Duration: Each cooking session lasts approximately 2 hours.
‘Becoming a Litterless Lunchbox Ambassador’ School Sessions
Truly litterless lunchboxes start with our food choices and thinking about the connection between the foods we eat and their impact on our wellbeing and the environment. On the other hand, if we only focus on reducing waste at school, either by bringing no packaging to school or taking wrappers back home, we will still be sending the same amount of litter to landfill – the only difference is that it will be via the household bin instead.
School sessions include:
Understanding the environmental impacts of lunchbox food and packaging waste
Understanding how levels of food processing of lunchbox snacks impact our health and planet Earth
Group activities to explore topics such as healthiness and sustainability of popular lunchbox snacks, the circular economy and waste hierarchy, and how to reduce and correctly sort food and packaging waste
Creating and sharing tips for litterless lunchboxes with peers and the school community
A minimum of 2 x 2-hour long school sessions per group or classroom is required, or we can customise shorter sessions to build into your school science or enviro programme.
