The Easiest Way To Cut A Pineapple
While out in the community delivering our workshops to early childhood centres’ cooks and teachers, we found out that whole fresh pineapple is one of the foods they were mostly unsure on how to prepare, sometimes avoiding purchasing it altogether. This is a shame, because not only pineapple has several health benefits - including being very high in nutrients, helping with digestion and boosting the immune system - it’s also delicious, versatile and very budget friendly, specially at this time of the year. Top and tail pineapple using a large knife.
Stand pineapple on the board and remove peel by using the black “eyes” as a guide.
Cut pineapple into quarters.
Remove the core of each quarter.
Pineapple quarters.
Options for cutting each quarter: diced, cut into strips, sliced.
Pineapple, Banana & Coconut Cooler
Makes 1.5 lts
Ingredients:
1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
3 bananas, peeled and sliced
1 cup light coconut milk
1 cup ice cubes
Method:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and mix on high until smooth and creamy (please see note).
2. Serve and enjoy!
Note: If your blender is small or not too powerful, divide ingredients into 2 batches to make crushing the ice and blending ingredients easier.
